Aryna Sabalenka has stormed into the US Open semifinals after a dominant performance against Karolina Pliskova. The Belarusian star dispatched her Czech opponent in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) in just 78 minutes, becoming the first player to reach the last four of the tournament this year.
Sabalenka's Dominant Display
Sabalenka, the sixth seed, was in imperious form throughout the match, dictating the pace with her powerful serve and aggressive groundstrokes. She fired 20 winners, including seven aces, and converted four of her nine break point opportunities.
Pliskova, the 13th seed, struggled to keep up with Sabalenka's relentless onslaught. The Czech hit just six winners and committed 23 unforced errors.
Sabalenka Sets Sights on Grand Slam Glory
Sabalenka's victory marks her third Grand Slam semifinal appearance, and her first at the US Open. She will face either Jessica Pegula or Iga Swiatek in the last four, with a place in the final up for grabs.
"I'm really happy with my performance today," said Sabalenka. "I came out strong and didn't give her any chances. I'm feeling confident and looking forward to the next challenge."
